Current Scholar Bios
Robert Mickey is Assistant Professor of Political Science at the University of Michigan. He received his B.A. in Philosophy and Political Science at Brown University, and his Ph.D. in Political Science at Harvard University. His research interests include political development, racial politics, political parties, democratization, and policy responses to durable inequalities. He is the author of Paths Out of Dixie: The Democratization of Authoritarian Enclaves in America's Deep South, 1944-1972 (forthcoming, Princeton University Press). His next book-length project concerns racial conflict in the urban North and West from 1930 to 1970. As a RWJ Scholar, he is tracing the causes and consequences of conflicts over the location and use of health care facilities in northern and western cities during this period.
