Cybelle Fox

Cybelle Fox received her B.A. in History and Economics from UC San Diego in 1997, and her Ph.D. in Sociology and Social Policy from Harvard University in 2007. Her dissertation examines the role of race and immigration in the development of the early American welfare state by comparing the extension of social citizenship to Mexicans, European immigrants, and Blacks in the first half of the twentieth century. As a RWJ Scholar, Cybelle plans to investigate the role of immigration in the politics of health policy provision. After completing the RWJ fellowship, she will join the Sociology Department at UC Berkeley as an Assistant Professor.
